Mother chases car thief with baby inside in Colorado Springs

With the victim’s infant inside, a juvenile thief crashed a stolen car near the Broadmoor Towne Center in Colorado Springs on Tuesday evening, Colorado Springs police said. The incident ended well, with the baby unharmed and the thief in handcuffs, but it was briefly every parent’s nightmare. Police say they were called just after 5 p.m. on a reported car theft in the 1000 block of Rice Drive. The mother left her 3-month-old inside a running car while she went inside a Dollar Tree nestled in a strip mall in the 1800 block of South Nevada Avenue, police said. The first row of parking spots abuts the front row of windows with a clear view of the parking lot from the register line.

Bikes and Trying Again - Steve s Daddy Tips (3-17-21)

It s all about learning how to ride a bike on this week s Daddy Tips. This week’s first Daddy Tip is going to be some sad news for parents of toddlers. Toddlers eventually outgrow naps and just stop taking them. Charlotte hasn’t napped in over a week, and we have finally decided that we wouldn’t even try anymore. So, I wanted to do a moment of silence for all the parents who lost free time this year from their kid no longer napping. The next Daddy Tip is to start shopping for your bikes, sandboxes, and kiddie pools because things are already starting to sell out. We bought Charlotte her first bike this weekend and it was the last one they had at Target. And when we looked at the sandboxes and pools, they only had a few left as well. Don’t get caught in the dust like so many people did last year trying to buy that stuff and get it now while you still have a chance. It’s a great way to spend your stimulus money!

Scientists explore the negative effects of prenatal stress on offspring mental health

Scientists explore the negative effects of prenatal stress on offspring mental health The link between psychological stress and physical health problems generally relates to a stress-induced immune response gone wild, with inflammation then causing damage to other systems in the body. It s a predictable cascade - except in pregnancy, research suggests. Scientists exploring the negative effects of prenatal stress on offspring mental health set out to find the immune cells and microbes in stressed pregnant mice most likely to trigger inflammation in the fetal brain - the source for anxiety and other psychological problems identified in previous research. Instead, the researchers found two simultaneous conditions in response to stress that made them realize just how complex the cross-talk between mom and baby is during gestation: Immune cells in the placenta and uterus were not activated, but significant inflammation was detected in the fetal brain.
